In 2025, Ganesha Chaturthi will be celebrated on Friday, August 29th. This festival honors Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the deity of wisdom and prosperity. Across India, the celebration takes on different forms depending on the region.
In the South of India, especially in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, Ganesha Chaturthi is often marked with pujas (prayers), homemade sweets like modakam, and smaller clay idols that are immersed in water after the rituals. In contrast, in Maharashtra and parts of North India, the celebrations are grand and public, with huge idols placed in decorated pandals, daily cultural performances, music, and processions leading to immersion in rivers or the sea.
In our Bollywood and Kuthu dance classes in Madrid, we embrace these traditions by teaching students not only the movements but also the cultural context—why gestures matter, what festivals mean, and how each dance form reflects the diversity of Indian traditions.
Joining our classes means experiencing India’s culture in depth, not just learning the steps.
