Going to India is like visiting a totally different world, not only because of it being a huge country but also because of its variety of cultures, landscapes and traditions.

In this post, we want to share the main tourist destinations in India with you, as well as give you some tips on how to enjoy Bollywood during your visit to the country.

India is home to majestic religious sanctuaries, impressive archaeological sites and buildings with different types of architecture.

There are so many attractions in India that it would be impossible to mention them all in the same blog, because India is vast and is actually the 7th largest country in the world.

We will be focusing our post on 5 selected tourist destinations in India.

  1. The Taj Mahal

Definitely, the Taj Mahal is the best-known monument from India internationally. It is a funerary building on the banks of the Yamuna River that was built between 1631 and 1654 by the Muslim emperor of the Mughal dynasty, Shah Jahan. He built the taj mahal with the objective of paying homage to the emperor’s favorite wife, Mumtaz mahal.

  1. Amber Fort

The Amber Fort complex is located in the beautiful state of Rajasthan. To gain access to the fort, you must climb a narrow road that leads to the entrance gate. It is now considered much more ethical for tourists to take jeep rides up to the fort, instead of riding the elephants (which was the practice before). During the tour you will be able to appreciate spectacular views of the city of Jaipur, its wall and Lake Maota

  1. The hawai mahal

The Hawai Mahal is an extraordinary palace that was formerly part of the Jaipur City Palace, in the beautiful state of Rajasthan.

  1. Red Fort of Delhi

Visiting the red fort in Delhi is highly recommended and anyone visiting will be able to enjoy several hours inside exploring its architecture.

Unfortunately, the use of mobile phones and cameras is restricted inside.

  1. Ranthambore National Park

This park has an extension of 392 km, and is one of the largest national parks in all of India. It is known for its tigers, and therefore a great way to visit them in their natural habitat.

In this park you will also find other animal species such as leopards, wild boars, sambar, hyenas and langurs.

Go to the cinema or theater to enjoy Bollywood

If you are planning to travel to India, you can soak up the Bollywood culture in different ways. Cinema in India is not an experience that is only limited to the big screen, you can also watch several Bollywood performances in theatres and plays, that are usually musicals.

The first way to experience the Bollywood feel in India is of course by visiting a cinema theatre to see some of the latest movies. Let’s not forget that Bollywood is the biggest cinema industry in the world, so don’t be surprised to find a big billboard of premieres.

Another way to enjoy Bollywood is at the Theater. The shows and spectacular dance scenes will leave you amazed. We recommend this option as you can get a closer look at the actors, actresses and performers, as well as experience the culture first hand.

And of course, visit Bollywood itself! Believe it or not, Bollywood (the film city) is an area located in Bombay, and it has its own theme park where you can enjoy different attractions, events and activities related to the Bollywood industry and get to know it in more depth.

Mumbai tours to get to know the Bollywood industry

Most of the tourism directed at knowing more about this film industry visits Mumbai (Bombay). One of the popular attractions among tourists is the guided bus tour known as Mumbai Film City Tours.

The Bollywood film studios bus tour lasts approximately two hours, where you can discover most of Film City and learn more about the history of Bollywood.

You can also watch a live recording of a movie on the “Live tour Show”, a site that is designed to show tourists the work that goes into recording a music scene from a Bollywood movie.
